It’s that time of year again, and we at ReSci are gearing up for another exciting Shop.org! We’ll be heading to Dallas in a couple of weeks to learn about the newest trends, topics, and everything retail and digital commerce – and hopefully chow down on some authentic Texas barbecue.

EVP of Omnichannel at JCPenney Mike Amend will share insights and best practices on how to use all channels to build customer experiences that bring value and earn loyalty. Having led similar transformations at Dell and Home Depot – the latter having upped their mobile app game in recent years to create a truly seamless in-store experience – Amend is sure to share drop some serious knowledge on how to make omnichannel strategies actionable.

The modern shopper factors in a lot more in their retail choices than price alone. One factor that’s rising in significance is that of shared values; consumers, especially Millennials, seek out and build relationships with companies that focus on having positive social and environmental impact. A panel of experts from brands like The Container Store and The Grommet share their tips on how to showcase socially responsible business practices to help win over customers.

Despite the flashier trends of social media and mobile marketing, there’s no denying the power of email in commerce: Email marketing still generates the highest ROI for ecommerce, and is still the preferred channel for consumer-brand communication even for Millennials. Forrester analysts Shar VanBoskirk and Melissa Parrish will walk through ways to get the most out of email marketing, as well as the most promising areas of digital marketing.

Winning the Internet Trifecta – Content, Community and Commerce

Home remodeling and design platform Houzz has been growing rapidly. In this keynote, President and Co-Founder Alon Cohen dives deeper into the secrets of their success, which revolve around what they call the “Three C’s” – Content, Community, and Commerce. Using content to connect to consumers is often an underused tactic, but it’s quickly rising in importance; when done correctly, brands see huge returns. This keynote will provide insight to how Houzz used content to bring value to their customers, focusing specifically on optimizing the customer experience.

11:30am – Breakout Session

Best Practices: Driving Loyalty in the Age of Hypercompetition

As ecommerce gets bigger and shoppers get savvier, it’s harder than ever to be heard above the noise. The key to success in such a fast-paced market relies heavily on growing a loyal customer base who will keep coming back. This two-part session, led by The Bouqs Founder John Tabis and the VP of Growth at Grubhub, Steven Young, will cover the importance of retention marketing and the applicable tactics to help win loyal, repeat customers.

2:00pm – Breakout Session

Retail Innovation: Omnichannel and The Future of Personalization

The perfect session to round out the topics of our other picks, this session will cover how retailers are merging technology and creativity to find ways to reach customers in an increasingly oversaturated industry. Stationery brand Bond’s CEO Sonny Caberwal and Jason Allen, VP of Multichannel Strategy at Gamestop, will provide their own accounts on how creating personalized customer experiences is a tactic worth investing in.

 

One thing is abundantly clear from the amazing sessions in store: at its core, digital commerce must be about the customer experience.
