Our first sponsored podcast is with NOVICA—a marketplace that unites the world with over 2000 talented artisans—with co-founder, Roberto Milk, on their 20th anniversary. Roberto was raised traveling the world with his family. His artistic roots stemmed from his grandparents, and it fused his passion for art and travel. He wanted to connect the world with the many talented artists he met on his travels. With the help of partners like National Geographic and the World Bank, his dream became a reality.

Roberto’s parents were teachers, so he and his brother had always went on vacations during the summer months. They found it strange that their parents spent money on travel rather on things everyone else did. After several trips, they learned that money was best spent on experiences, like travel, which is where they met many talented artists along the way.

Fast forward 15-years later, Roberto and his brother wondered if there was a better way to help connect all these talented artisans to the rest of the world. He cited people like Ghandi, Nelson Mandella, Martin Luther King Jr.—people that fought to do the right thing, took on a big challenge, and helped rewrite the narrative.

That’s what inspired them to find a way to share artisans work with the world; a way that can benefit the artist directly and not some huge corporation. They knew it wasn’t a textbook business plan. They knew it had to be something big, and something that would revolutionize how things were being done.
